In this retelling, Lucky Singh (Abhay Deol) is a loveable Punjabi thief whom even the Delhi Police is extremely fond of. His modus operandi is to outsmart people, gatekeepers and policemen with his sharp mind and wit. He is an aspiring individual who loves the good things in life and is generally enamored by the lifestyles of the rich and affluent Delhi families. Having conquered the capital, he spreads his reach further. But for how long can he be beyond the law's reach? Meanwhile the media speculates on how he got away with stealing 140 TV sets, 212 Video cassette recorders, 475 shirts, 90 music systems, 50 jewellery boxes, 2 dogs and a greeting card - in a spree of burglaries that included households in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and other cities in India.

Highly recommended for those who want to watch an intelligent comedy
There are some movies that will surprise you with their sheer brilliance and this original movie is one of them. Ace director Dibakar Banerjee delivers a quirky comedy-drama that is a lot more like a Hollywood film than anything you would find in Bollywood. Abhay Deol plays the lead role in the interesting life story of a loveable master thief. This is one movie that you will recommend to other film fans and is highly recommended for those who want to watch an intelligent comedy, which has an Indian soul and a western body. It won a National Award in the Best Popular Film category and should really have won many more prizes.

Great film, so entertaining and its always a pleasure to watch Abhay Deol. Paresh Rawal is also excellent in his triple role and the news channel guy is hilarious! Definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to see a different side to Bollywood.

Witty and very entertaining. I loved the actor who does the role of young Lucky- Manjot Singh...very well done! Abhay Deol is a dark horse.
