Movie Full Storyline
Belonging to a prominent Uttar Pradesh-family of ruthless politicians, Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor) is set to return to the US, to complete his PhD and carry on life with his Irish-American girlfriend, Sarah.
His plans are dramatically and unexpectedly cut short when his father, Chandra, is shot dead. He decides to stay put and avenge this slaying, but ends up dealing with aspiring politician, Indu Sakseria (Katrina Kaif), who wants to marry him.
His brother, Prithviraj (Arjun Rampal), who has been granted control of the Rashtrawadi Party is facing imprisonment on charges of assaulting a police officer and sexual molestation. His cousin, Veerendra (Manoj Bajpai), wants control of the party; and his astute maternal uncle, Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar) - secretly controls the entire family.
Before he can even handle these situations, Sarah arrives in India and will soon accuse him of being a manipulative and conniving politician.

Power-packed political thriller
Although this power-packed thriller cleverly takes aspects of the Mahabharata and transports them to a modern day political arena, it also has heavy elements of classic Hollywood gangster movie The Godfather. What elevates one of the finest political thrillers ever made in India to a higher level is an outstanding cast, which includes Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpayee, delivering incredible performances. You will want to watch it a second time to appreciate the movie fully.

This film provides interesting and engaging insights into the world of politics without compromising on the entertainment value. There are some great twists and turns in the various plot lines which aren't predictable - unlike a lot of other Bollywood movies. Overall very enjoyable to watch and great acting by all.

Indian politics is complicated!
I think Raajneeti successfully looks into the dark side of politics not only in India but the world over. I loved it and Ranbir is a big sweet cherry on the cake.
